Adopt an Angel
Sharon & Tommy Villarrubia – (504) 885-5203 – email@example.com
The Adopt an Angel Ministry collects Christmas gifts for the less fortunate members of the St. Philip Neri Parish family. This ministry also sends Christmas gift packages to other community organizations that service the poor. Catholic Charities, CASA of Jefferson, and Covenant House are a few of the recipients.
In 2009, the generosity of St. Philip Neri parishioners sent over 600 gifts of clothing, toys, food, blankets, gift cards, and other needed items bringing smiles to the faces of children, food to the suffering, and hope to the hearts of the needy.
Feed the Homeless
Lans Madere – (504) 455-3305 – firstname.lastname@example.org
Working with Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in New Orleans, this volunteer ministry cooks approximately 100 meals once a month on Friday at the St. Philip Neri Parishioner’s Center kitchen. The meals are transported to the St. Jude Center on North Rampart Street on the second Saturday of each month where it is served to our homeless and needy guests. Our main source of funding is donations from the members of the St. Philip Neri Men’s Club. In addition, some food is also donated by local merchants. Our parish volunteers are always impressed by the amount of verbal appreciation that is expressed by those we serve.
Wendy and Scott Whittaker – (504) 887-7866 – email@example.com
This ministry provides transportation for Fr. Paul Miranne, to and from his residence at St. Joseph’s Abbey in Covington, so Fr. Paul can assist with weekend Mass and confessions at St. Philip Neri. This ministry also reaches out to people in need of short-term or occasional assistance due to illness or death in the family or other crisis. Some services that we are able to provide are: transportation, grocery shopping or other errands, meal preparation, and minor home repairs.
